Miami County, IN – A Douglasville, Georgia man is facing charges for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Cocaine following a traffic stop conducted as part of “Operation Blue Anvil” on Thursday, June 21, 2018. You can read more about “Operation Blue Anvil” by clicking HERE.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office, Peru Police Officer Brok Westfall conducted a traffic stop on a white passenger vehicle that was traveling north in the left lane of US Route 31 near Division Rd. According to his report, the vehicle was stopped for speeding.
The driver was identified as twenty-five-year-old Michael Hunter of Douglasville, GA. While Officer Westfall ran a license check and issued a citation for speeding, Officer Smith conducted a “standardized field sobriety test”. PPD Sergeant Raber arrived on scene to assist and utilized her K9 partner Fargo to conduct a “free air sniff” around Hunter’s car. The K9 displayed a change of behavior indicating the presence of drugs in the car.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office and obtained today by Peru Indiana Today, Trooper Abigail Russell of the Indiana State Police was called to a traffic stop conducted by Wabash County K9 Deputy Matt Cox at approximately 5:52 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. The stop was a result of the suspect vehicle following another vehicle too closely. Deputy Cox and his K9 partner had conducted a “free air sniff” around the suspect vehicle with the K9 alerting to the presence of illegal narcotics on both the front and passenger sides of the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Phillip A. Baety, 21 of Orlando, FL along with passengers Daniela Gonzalez, 21 of Bay Harbor Islands, FL and Emily Hyson, 21 of Ft. Myers, FL were all out of the vehicle and in handcuffs upon the arrival of Trooper Russell.
Peru, IN – Some residents at Hilltop Farms received a notice from Peru Utilities last Friday advising them that the Phase II apartments would have their wastewater disconnected on Monday, July 9, 2018. The notice stated that “TOILETS, SINKS AND TUBS WILL NOT DRAIN PROPERLY AND MAY FLOOD THE DOWNSTAIRS UNITS.” It went on to say that Peru Utilities was not responsible for any damages due to this unfortunate disconnection. Residents were advised to contact the property manager to discuss the situation.

BUNKER HILL, IN– Warden William Hyatte confirms that Correctional Officer Talleigha Titus was arrested at Miami Correctional Facility (MCF) on Friday, June 29th, 2018 for attempting to traffic with an offender.
The Division of Investigations and Intelligence (DII) at MCF received intelligence through J-Pay and phone communications that Titus had the intent to traffic narcotics to an offender housed at MCF. Titus was stopped at visitor processing by DII staff. She was interviewed, cooperated, and was found with 14 suboxone strips and white crystal substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine.
